Thanks for your continuous help to Keio’s space design education. We would like to announce the launch of KEIO ARCHITECTURE which is an international, interdisciplinary and collaborative Research, Design-Research and Education Hub, jointly organized and co-managed by Department of System Design Engineering, Faculty of Science and Technology and Center for Space and Environment Design Engineering, School of Science for Open and Environmental Systems, Graduate School of Science and Technology at Yagami Campus, and Faculty of Environment and Information Studies, Faculty of Policy Management, and Graduate School of Media and Governance at Shonan Fujisawa Campus (SFC).
KEIO ARCHITECTURE challenges to widen the meaning of ’architecture’ inclusively as (a) set of activities with the essential goal to make the world a better place, (b) the field of combined knowledges generated by art, science, technology and humanities, directed towards production of space, and (c) the structure and organization of constructed and social expressions of human life in harmony with environment. An overarching aim of KEIO ARCHITECTURE is to advance top global level in Architectural and Urban Design and Planning Studies at Keio and within its networks, while keeping the precious nuances of tradition in the oldest tertiary education institution in Japan.
Combined with this announcement we will have an open lecture by Architect Shigeru Ban as a memorial lecture of KEIO ARCHITECTURE.

風薫る五月となりました。日頃、慶應義塾大学における空間デザイン教育にご協力頂き誠にありがとうございます。
この度、本学理工学部および環境情報学部・総合政策学部、そして大学院理工学研究科、政策・メディア研究科が協働して行う「慶應アーキテクチャ」という共同研究教育活動のキックオフをお知らせいたします。
慶應アーキテクチャは、国際的・分野横断的かつ協働に基づく研究・デザインリサーチ・教育の拠点です。慶應アーキテクチャは、今までの建築という意味での「アーキテクチャ」を(a) 世界をより良い場所にするということを本来的な目標として捉えた活動とし、(b) 空間づくりに向けて芸術や科学技術またヒューマニティによって作られる複合知として、(c) 環境と共生する中で、人の生活を建設するものあるいは社会的なものとして表現する枠組みや組織として捉えます。慶應アーキテクチャの到達したい目標はトップグローバルレベルの建築・都市計画およびデザインに関する教育研究を慶應義塾のネットワークを用いて、国内で最も歴史のある高等教育機関の有する伝統のよさを生かしながら行なっていくことだと考えます。
以下の日程におきまして、「慶應アーキテクチャ」の紹介をさせて頂くとともに、本学の建築教育にご尽力頂いている坂茂特別招聘教授による記念講演を予定しております。併せてお知らせ申し上げます。
